Where I live we have multiple Motorcycle Clubs. You leave them alone – they leave you alone. We have a pretty prominent one in the area. I will not be naming them because again… you leave them alone – they leave you alone.
They have a couple houses – our CAD system has each house labeled. So and so’s house. Makes it less of a guessing game when shit hits the fan. On this day one of my sister agency’s transfer’s me a call. They say “this is —– with a transfer, someone was shot.”
I take the call for scene safety because the officers need to know what they’re walking into if someone was shot. I confirm the address and immediately see what house it is. So someone being shot.. I’m not saying it makes sense, but it doesn’t not make sense.
As soon as the caller tells me the address he follows it up with, “He wasn’t shot – he shot himself.” This man is cool as ice. I’m talking you would’ve thought we were discussing the weather – and not a storm.
He tells me the guy is beyond help and he doesn’t really know him. He’s not willing to go inside to do CPR. The guy just randomly shot himself. Don’t know if it was on accident. Just doesn’t know. And basically, “come clean up the body.”
BET! We send officers, they get there and do their thing. The guy gets transported to the hospital because – he was in fact not beyond help.
Well… kind of. Unfortunately he did end up passing in the hospital.
And then like the nosey little meerkat I am. I somehow come across the GoFundMe, posted by the girlfriend of the deceased. The story she’s telling is…not adding up. It’s saying he harmed himself but alluding that he was basically in something that got him in trouble.
And then by the grace of Jesus Devonte Christ – I was working the phone a week later when his surgeon called in with an update.
The Update: There is absolutely no way this man shot himself.
Now imagine my surprise when I was not surprised because I called it! In dispatch once something leaves the CAD system we no longer get updates. So I have no clue who the dad for this case is. Dad=adult/sergeant. So I ask the dad currently on duty to get this information to the case dad.
I’m never one to victim blame – but I do want to know what the final straw was for this particular MC to do this and call the police about it? They usually leave the police out of their… affairs.
